Maybe it’s because I’m a Cubs fan and so I’m more focused on the Cubs’ collapse than the incompetence of other teams, but it seems like the world is more focused on the Cubs’ collapse than the incompetence of other teams. To which I say:
Hey, look! The Cardinals!
The Cardinals went and got Nolan Arenado to pair with Paul Goldschmidt. They’re getting outrageous production from Tyler O’Neill. They have a player behind the plate who probably thinks he’s an incarnate god. They had more hype than the Cubs. They made more noise about themselves than the Cubs. They have the same record as the Cubs.
To be fair, part of this is that the Cardinals have four starting pitchers hurt right now. They, unlike the Cubs, acknowledged that you need starting pitchers to win and decided they would try to win. To also be fair, only approximately three of those pitchers were supposed to be good (two and two halves, you could say). And at the same time…the records are the same, guys.
At least as of this afternoon.
