That’s the Andy Enfield We Like to See

USC lost at home last night.

*rubs hands together hungrily*

Other NIT notes:

  • Our beloved San Francisco Dons opened WCC play with a win, as was expected, at home against San Diego. They’re like a puppy. Everything they do excites us.
  • Boise State continued to beat the hell out of bad Mountain West teams, with their latest victim being San José State. The Broncos put up 106, and it was not even as close as you might be thinking right now. And in a “home” game for the Spartans that was happening in Arizona. On New Year’s Eve! Cruel.
  • Conference USA’s got the makings of a great title race, with Marshall and Western Kentucky headlining the affair, and loads of NIT implications. The Thundering Herd open the new year down in Ruston, playing Louisiana Tech. The Hilltoppers (love you, Big Red) play Charlotte in Charlotte.
  • Georgia State, the Sun Belt favorite, also has a tricky one, going to Conway to take on Coastal Carolina in their conference opener.
  • We’re unsure if our best path to keeping the HoLo automatic bid alive is Wright State winning the league again, as is their wont, or if we should be hoping for someone to knock them off because Wright State’s probably winning that tournament, but we’re leaning towards the latter. Which has us hoping Wright State’ll drop at least one up at Oakland in the next two days while Cleveland State can, ideally, sweep IUPUI in a tough road series of their own.

Happy New Year.
