Texas/TCU Postponed—Two Thoughts

1. Hope Jamie Dixon’s ok.

It’s always scary when someone tests positive for the coronavirus, given it’s so lethal and still such a relative unknown, but it’s especially scary when it’s someone middle-aged or older. Hopefully Dixon’s case is a mild one, and he makes an easy, quick, full recovery with no lasting effects. And, as always, hopefully the spread from him is limited.

2. Not a lot of rescheduling opportunity for Saturday.

At least not yet. So far, this is the only Big 12 game postponed. If Iowa State’s outbreak continues, the Big 12 could send Texas up to Lubbock and open up February 27th for both those teams, but it’s unclear if the league’s ready to start doing that. I don’t believe they’ve done it so far, and hopefully it’s not an option, for the sake of Iowa State and the world, but it does appear likely that at some point, the conference is going to have to either get more aggressive with rescheduling or accept that not everybody is going to play 18 regular season games.
