Texas Finds Its Groove Against TCU—Five Thoughts

1. There we go!

Dicey early, but Texas pulled away. Finally looked like themselves again.

2. Greg Brown had a solid day.

Some mistakes, sure, but overall another good game from the freshman. The shooting’s especially encouraging, though hopefully he doesn’t start settling.

3. No Royce Hamm again.

Curious if this was an unofficial suspension after this week’s tweet (sparknotes if you missed it: Hamm didn’t play against Kansas State and tweeted something out along the lines of, “Guess loyalty doesn’t matter”). The word was that he looked engaged on the bench, so there’s hope it isn’t too much of a distraction.

4. Jase Febres hasn’t found his shot yet.

It seems like Shaka Smart’s really trying to get the senior going, but it’s yet to click. They can win without him—the season’s opening weeks showed that—but if it does click, Febres would be a big asset for the Horns.

5. Three games this week.

At Oklahoma, home against Iowa State and West Virginia. All hands on deck.
