1. Kind of impressive by the Horns.
No, they didn’t win. No, they didn’t cover. But to be in that game against Baylor two days after finally getting everyone back, not necessarily healthy but healthy enough to practice together, is a solid performance.
2. Holy Baylor.
Everything looked so effortless. And just so many options, without being physically awe-striking.
3. Free throws aren’t free.
It’s easy to rip on teams for missing free throws, but the mental piece of them isn’t easy. It’s still concerning, of course, and Texas being in the bottom half nationally in free throw percentage doesn’t bode well, but it’s not the easiest thing to fix. Hopefully last night was just a blip.
4. That damn technical foul.
Unless Greg Brown said something really bad…what the hell, rulebook and/or referees?
5. Andrew Jones!
Great night from the guy. He’s rolling right now.
6. No minutes for Jase Febres.
I’m curious if Febres will become more of a key player as the season goes on. It was interesting that they didn’t go to him at all last night.
7. Brock Cunningham looked fine.
The guy who missed the most time looked like himself out there, which is encouraging.
8. Not Matt Coleman’s best effort, and the turnovers overall did hurt.
As expected, Baylor forced and received a lot of turnovers, with the biggest chunk coming from our dude Coleman. If there’s one area where you’d like to see improvement over the next two months, it’s probably ball protection.
