In terms of drivers, Bovada’s got Denny Hamlin as the favorite at +600, followed by Joey Logano at +825, Brad Keselowski at +925, Chase Elliott at +925, and Ryan Blaney at +950. If you like Bubba Wallace, today’s your day. He’s raced well at superspeedways before. If you’re curious about recent history, I think Blaney’s won two of the last three here.
How NASCAR Should Script It
Just let it happen. It’s Talladega. (If you’re going to script it c’mon have Bubba win this is the right day for it.)
Trucks, Xfinity
No trucks this weekend. Jeb Burton won the Xfinity race, and people were pumped for him. In the ARCA series (one of the series below the Truck Series level), Derrick Lancaster’s car caught fire and took a long time to stop, resulting in what sound to be some pretty terrible burns. Unclear what his medical prognosis is, but the word in an apparent screenshot from his wife’s Facebook account is that he’s still very sedated and they’re trying to use a ventilator to clear the soot out of his lungs, but that his trachea and lungs were thankfully not burned. Hopefully the race is safe today.
