Stu’s Notes: The Ottawa Senators and the Silver Bullet Band

Oh you know Memphis is back. You know Memphis covered last night. You know the reigning champions are walking around looking like a factor again.

Working on Our NITe Moves

Rutgers keeps making their case more interesting, taking down Ohio State last night in Piscataway for their second straight impressive home win. Weird résumé with the November stuff (technical term, that), but if Rutgers fans exist anywhere, they exist in the New York media area, and maybe that impacts NIT selection, I don’t know. Probably should, at this point in history, but not at the next point in history.

Loyola kept their dreams alive where all dreams go to survive: Peoria. Sneaky-pretty town, Peoria. Maybe just because I’ve spent a lot of time at Detweiller Park.

Oklahoma did a dumb thing and beat Texas Tech. Not necessary, guys. Counterproductive, in fact.

ToNITe

Michigan’s job tonight is to lose to Purdue. Washington State’s is to lose to Arizona. Clemson’s is to beat Duke, Oregon and Stanford can do whatever they want, and if BYU loses to Loyola Marymount we’ll give them a big high five. Also, NIT favorite San Francisco hosts Pepperdine, and honestly, you probably shouldn’t lose this one, guys. You’ve reached the point where you don’t quite need that.

The Sens

The Senators welcome Pittsburgh to town tonight, by which I mean they welcome Pittsburgh’s hockey team, not the whole city. The Sens haven’t lost since the All-Star break, and I see no reason they should start now. Not even the one where they’re a two-to-one underdog.
