Tonight, Steph Curry might match LeBron James in total NBA titles, which I think means we’ll get to enjoy a good, hearty Steph vs. LeBron debate tomorrow which will hopefully spin into Steph vs. MJ and could possibly spin into Steph vs. MJ vs. Kobe vs. Barry Bonds vs. LeBron. But while Steph Curry does have the best NIT career of those five, it wasn’t great. Sorry, Steph. We all saw it. Yes, you scored 29 points per game. But on an average of 23 shots from the floor? After what we saw you do in ’08 against the “good” teams?
So, yes, when Steph Curry is acknowledged as one of the all-time greats tomorrow, let the NIT be part of the conversation. But don’t act like beating South Carolina in 2009 and then immediately losing is the greatest thing a basketball team’s ever done. Those weren’t the ’06 Gamecocks.
The Avalanche Were Cool in the 90’s
One concession to the Coloradan hockey team: The Avalanche were cool to a lot of people in the 1990’s. I mean, they were also very uncool to a lot of people in the 90’s, moving from Quebec in the middle of the decade, but I do understand why they were liked. Just acknowledging that, as a blog which sometimes dabbles in nostalgia.
Oh, also, the Sens extended Dylan Gambrell by a year. So that’s our Ottawa news for the week.
Chris Mooney Got Extended
Oh, wait. This is one of those where they just increase his buyout a little bit. Forgot how college basketball works. Definitely a bummer for those who paid for the billboards, but their time may yet come. In the meantime, a little more job security for the three-time NIT Quarterfinal appearer.

That’s about it for today. Got the Cubs on right now, will have the U.S. Open back on after that, for ambience. NBA Finals tonight, nothing too big on the baseball field. See you all on the morrow.
