Stu’s Notes: Musings on Mason Ramsey and the Minnesota Wild

First off, for the Twitter people, no, no specific reason for no NIT monologue last night. Just didn’t remember to do it. Wrote it down today. They say writing things down helps you remember. Also, I’m hot. I’m sitting in the sun because this was how I could get close to an electrical outlet (the fire alarms continue) and I wish I’d just gone somewhere else when I realized this place was forbidding people from sitting inside because it’s a nice day. If I wanted that, I’d have called my mother. Yes, haters, I have a mom. Bet you’ve never thought about that.

Game of the NITe

Mreeeeeuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh MIAMI PITT. Might’ve been a bad choice. I don’t know. I had to choose, though. You put me on the spot. Miami’s in the rare situation, for an NIT candidate, of playing a power conference team on the road with it not being a free play. Which is good for them, because they’re not in a spot where they want too many wins. Pitt, meanwhile, is dead (the whole city is, look it up, it’s sad), but they’ve been winning games here and there lately. Might keep doing it. There’s always a chance.

At this point, your local NIT blogger has absorbed enough Vitamin D that he has become unstoppable. Bad news for the next foe, the…

Get Wrecked (in Advance), Wild

The Sens play the Wild tonight, and we’re fired up. I thought about becoming a Wild fan when I lived in Minnesota, only to remember that the Wild are an imposter sent to satiate Minnesotans after the North Stars moved down here, to Texas. True Minnesotans, by my understanding, should loathe what the Wild stand for. They should want the North Stars back. They should rabidly want the North Stars back. Am I misunderstanding? Maybe. But I learned long ago to not listen to Minnesotans talk about themselves (it’s so insufferable, guys), so there’s no way for me to learn I’m wrong if that is the case.

Game’s in Ottawa, puck drop at 7:00 PM EST. Broadcast on ESPN+. Matt Murray’s out (childbirth—his wife, not him, but it’s his child). Thomas Chabot is questionable. Dylan Gambrell got hurt this morning in practice. Josh Norris is skating again but isn’t all that close to being back yet.

Really, I guess it’s kind of cool that the state of Minnesota has such a bummer of an NHL franchise. Leaves more space for the high school game. It’s like how the state of Texas only has bummers of college football programs. Go ahead, Wild fan (singular, I assume). Come at me if you win. Little do you know that winning is not the point of the Ottawa Senators.

Motivational Mason

No new Mason Ramsey Instagram content, but I did notice that his Instagram bio says he’s a motivational speaker. Also says he’s 15 years old, which makes me wonder about the truck. Might’ve been a staged photo, folks. Unless it’s one of those things where it’s legal for him to drive to school and work? I know they had that in Iowa, but he lives in southern Illinois, right? We’re left with more questions than answers.

Alright, feeling gratitude for the nice weather. I know it could be worse. Sorry for the whining. Also, and yes I’ve said this before but I’m asking again, if anyone knows which MLB negotiators are making out with which MLBPA negotiators please let me know. I need the story on that romantic tension. Also also, Joe Kelly’s still a free agent, CC: the Chicago Cubs.
