The White Sox’ vaunted bullpen just blew a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning, and man, those guys could use them a Joe Kelly. Good thing he’ll be there soon.
The Cubs Won!
Man, that was fun yesterday. I did not expect 1) to win that game 2) Nico Hoerner to hit a home run 3) Corbin Burnes to struggle with command that much 4) to win that game. Ian Happ brought the great Ian Happ, Seiya Suzuki was quietly awesome, the bullpen scuffled but it’s one game and they weren’t walking a ton of guys or giving up dingers. Great start. Great vibes. Just looking to win one this weekend. Bargaining with God to win one this weekend.

F1’s in Australia overnight tomorrow night, where Sebastian Vettel had to use a fire extinguisher on his car in practice, he then got fined for riding a scooter around the circuit to get back post-fire, and Joe took him this morning at 1,000-to-1 odds to win the race. Why not? ESPN, 1:00 AM Sunday morning.
NASCAR’s at Martinsville tomorrow night, the Paperclip, and I think something about NASCAR short tracks is that they’re probably extremely fun to visit in person but they aren’t always that fun to watch on TV. Better than intermediate tracks with the last car, but last weekend was a boring race until the drama built at the end. Curious how tomorrow will go. FS1, 7:30 PM EDT if I recall correctly.
IndyCar’s at Long Beach, and I don’t know why they don’t just start the season with the Indy 500 if they aren’t going to race with any regularity before it. IndyCar seems like a Ponzi scheme. They are not trying to succeed. Race is on NBC sometime Sunday afternoon, we aren’t including it in the viewing schedule (partially because we are not doing a viewing schedule, because I need to get these done before Fargo wakes up and wants to play) but we might flip to it because dammit we can’t quit IndyCar.
Tim Stützle: Confirmed Hurt
Brendan Gallagher gets another mention because Brendan Gallagher’s a butthole and a half. And he’s not even the guy who hurt him!
The Sens almost won last night, but they didn’t, and at some point in the last few days they were eliminated from the playoffs, so that’s fun. They play the Rangers on the road tomorrow and the Jets back home on Sunday.
Can Burnley Do It Again?
Burnley’s got another game now, it’s Sunday, and it’s winnable. 9:00 AM EDT, USA Network. At Norwich. Everton hosts Man U tomorrow morning, Leeds goes to Watford also tomorrow morning, Burnley will know entering play whether a win (or even just a draw, if Everton loses) will get them out of the relegation zone, at least temporarily.
Mason Ramsey Hasn’t Mentioned Bangers III on Instagram
This is fair, Mason Ramsey was a toddler for a large part of the time period we’re covering, but just making a note of it for all of those who were wondering if Mason Ramsey had mentioned Bangers III on Instagram (voting on which songs make the bracket remains live until early tomorrow morning).
