Greetings from Texas, where at least in Austin, things seem pretty ok with the winter storm. Ice is out there, but many roads are clear, and we’re hoping to make Fargo’s 2:00 vet appointment tomorrow afternoon. (If you rob us during that appointment I swear to shit, guys…)
We Can Still Like Jay Wright
Our relationship with Jay Wright was dicey for a bit last night, as Villanova wouldn’t stop fouling after Marquette had put the game away, one inevitably was too violent, and Shaka Smart got upset (we had his back, but it’s hard to have a guy’s back when you’re in Austin and he’s in Milwaukee and you’ve been told by the weatherpeople not to travel). After the game, though, Jay Wright tweeted something complimentary of Smart, so we’re cool. On that note, Shaka Smart’s Marquette Golden Eagles just swept the Villanova Wildcats in the regular season series. Just putting that out there for the haters to lick. With their tongues.
NITe Train: Dayton
The Dayton Flyers kicked VCU’s ass last night in Richmond, and many expect we’ll see them in tomorrow’s NIT Bracketology. Me? I don’t comment on such things (I do think Furman’s going to crack the field, though, but now that I say that I’m losing confidence in it, which is why I don’t comment on such things).
Coming UnkNIT? Notre Dame
Nope, don’t worry Irish fans, winning at mediocre but good-in-the-ACC-by-default Miami doesn’t sink your NIT dreams. Also, shoutout to brother Will for the suggestion for this segment title, and shoutout to friend Derek for also using the kNITting pun earlier this week. You’ll each be rewarded. By fate and by us.
But again, yes, Notre Dame should be fine. Good win but not a great win, and probably won’t age as well as the haters might hope.
Game of the NITe: Back to Laramie
Oh you better believe we’re claiming it. Wyoming’s on the bubble. Boise State’s within bubble reach. Are we sure? Yes. Mountain West teams are always within a week or two of the bubble. Look at last year, when just such a rapid descent was made by…Boise State.
Since this might not be televised, you’re also allowed to watch Oregon/Colorado on FS1 at 9:00 PM Texas Time, and Washington State/Stanford on some-maybe-all Pac-12 Networks at 8:00 PM Texas Time, and if you want to get drunk and yell so much at Andy Enfield’s stupid face on the TV that the cops have to come, he plays Arizona State at 10:00 PM Texas Time on ESPN2. Live it up. It is your birthday, after all (1-in-365.25 chance hope it hits).
