Over the weekend, a close friend of the blog asked why we do the state flag bracket every year when it’s just the same flags. The first answer was, “Well, actually Mississippi changed its flag before 2021 and got to enter the bracket.” The second answer was, “For some reason, people change their minds.”
Defending champion Arizona just got smacked.
New Mexico’s flag has graduated from the ranks of cult favorite to the realm of national favorite. Now, though, South Carolina’s waiting. And if there’s a flag out there that people recognize as being of a certain state, and if that flag doesn’t just spell out the state’s name, it’s the Palmetto Moon.
Two quick things:
- You can check how your own bracket is doing at this link. I’m winning again, but either Joe or a bracket named “Mackiveli” will be our ultimate winner, so let’s all just pretend this part of the experience isn’t happening.
- Here’s where the five flags that didn’t make the bracket went.
