Per a source with first-hand knowledge of the Los Angeles Lakers, the team is privately crediting a fellow Los Angeles athlete who doesn’t play hoops for their title this fall (he’d probably be pretty good at hoops if he did play, though—just saying). Yes, this source says, “You look at it, Houston came out and hit ‘em in the mouth in Game One. Who else did Houston hit in the mouth? The Dodgers. Three years ago. And who hit back?”
Yes, evidently when the Lakers were feeling down following that Game One loss in whatever round of the Western Conference playoffs that was, they turned to Joe Kelly for inspiration. It worked. The rest is history.
