Well, it happened. Not at a great time, either. Some are arguing the home run in question lost the Dodgers the game.
Me? I think all home runs exist. Including the ones that weren’t hit. The real home run that lost the Dodgers this game was the one Shohei Ohtani had the opportunity to swat over the fence in the bottom of the tenth. That would have at least tied it.
But hey. Joe Kelly and Shohei Ohtani each came out on the wrong side of a home run in the tenth inning of a 9–7 victory by the Tampa Bay Rays. Maybe they can share the loss.
The nice thing about Joe Kelly allowing all these home runs is that it probably won’t keep happening. He’ll get it out of his system and be fine by October. The last time he allowed more than three in a year was 2019. That postseason went great.
We will, of course, stand by our man. And we’ll stand by his men, too. Shohei, we know you let your team down tonight. But we forgive you.
