So Everyone Loves Formula 1, Eh?

Since deciding to sparsely blog about Formula 1 at the behest of a commenter (what’s up, Mattia Binotto’s Glasses?), the outpouring of excitement from the broader The Barking Crow community has been surprising. Really. We even had someone text us about it this weekend.

We did not realize how popular Formula 1 was. We’d first gotten the idea it was cool a few years ago, when a cool, cultured person told us they watch F1, but we hadn’t thought much more of it until someone who also likes NASCAR talked us excitedly through their love of F1 last summer. Now, it’s everywhere on Twitter, we’re keeping an eye on wedding schedules so we can attend this fall’s race in Austin, and we got that text about it. Wild.

Did you guys always like F1? Is this new? Was this something you all were going to tell us about or did we have to figure it out on our own? Why does nobody tell us what’s cool???

Would appreciate some answers. I am feeling like we were had.

  1. I’m glad that you’ve seen the light.

HOWEVER, if you thought that last week’s Spanish Grand Prix was entertaining, you’re in for a treat. That race wasn’t nearly as good as the three prior races this season (and many races last season, for that matter).

The Monaco Grand Prix on May 23 will be fun to look at, but won’t provide much on-track action. Because it’s a road course that winds through the narrow streets and alleys of the picturesque principality nestled into the Mediterranean hillside, overtaking is exceptionally difficult. One ultimately watches Monaco not for its wheel-to-wheel drama, but rather for its history and pageantry.

    1. Yes but will the money and/or the women at Monaco exceed last week’s performance?
      That’s what the people want.
Give the people what they want.

      (And/or the DRS?)

        1. Hey Merrick (if that’s even you’re real name). I’m just agreeing with you! Same team 🙂

    2. I much prefer history and pageantry, to be honest. I get more drama from NASCAR than F1 (based on my small sample). What F1 gives me is neat, tidy precision and lots of slow builds.
