Seton Hall Keeps Dancing the Dance

Seton Hall and Providence played a big one last night. And it lived up to the occasion.

Providence shot 34% on two-point attempts. Providence turned the ball over more than once every four possessions. Providence shot 38% at the free throw line. Seton Hall went 4-for-24 on threes.

It was a beautiful effort, but the end result—the Seton Hall victory—has both in danger of exiting our projected NIT field.

Thankfully, each came into the night with a little bit of cushion. And thankfully, each has shown already that they’re capable of getting themselves back onto the stage after leaving the scene.

Best of luck to both.

Other notes for today:

  • Kentucky didn’t change their stock by much, losing a close one at Mizzou, as was expected.
  • Rhode Island missed a chance to inch themselves closer to our territory, losing by a point to VCU.
  • St. John’s got a massive win over Villanova, and will likely be in our projected field tomorrow. In a season in which NIT talk has been dominated by the other tournament’s biggest names, who can be surprised that the NIT’s king has awoken from his slumber?
  • SMU got past Tulsa in Tulsa, probably keeping everything pat over there.
  • TCU got a nice little win, this time edging Oklahoma State.
  • South Carolina got a huge road victory, taking down Florida in Gainesville. Not sure it’s enough to put the Gamecocks in our lap, but it’s a possibility.
  • Saint Louis lost at La Salle. Pain for the Billikens. Not sure what to make of them at all these days.
  • Tonight, we get…not a lot. I’m looking here and there isn’t a single game that’s making me say, “Yes. That impacts the NIT.” I mean…no, yeah, no. Nothing big going on out there. Catch up with your family or something. If one of these teams (Stanford, Colorado State, Utah State) is losing, come back to the TV, but otherwise, have yourself a nice night off.
