Darn.
The Final
San José 2, Senators 1
How It Happened
The Sens grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on Drake Batherson’s goal, with dream team Artem Zub and Brady Tkachuk providing the assists, but early in the second, the Sharks tied it up, and later in the second, the Sharks took the lead on the power play. No goals from there.
Any Fights?
Nope.

Senators News
Shane Pinto left the game with a banged-up shoulder, but there’s evidently nothing structurally wrong. We’ll see if he’s available tomorrow.
Matt Murray played well. Thomas Chabot played an ungodly number of minutes.
Ok, now the good stuff:
There was a fake Zub Instagram! It was the Zub Instagram, as in, the one his teammates and his team followed. There was a fake Zub Instagram, and the people we assume are closest to him in Canada did not realize it was fake. The most amazing kind of Instagram, frankly. Unclear what the purpose was. Long con? Just having some fun? Did Instagram gain sentience and say, “I would like Artem Zub to be on me—me, Instagram, a social media platform”? All of the questions. No way we get answers.
Senators Thoughts
Would’ve liked to at least grab a point, but sometimes that doesn’t happen. Still have two more over the homestand—the Rangers tomorrow, the Capitals on Monday. A win and a trip to overtime might be tough to pull off, but they’d be enough to leave the Sens on a 96-point pace through six games, which would be a great start.
Up Next
Home game tomorrow afternoon against the Rangers.
