Senators Outgun the Flames

Pew pew pew!!!! (shootout noises)

The Final:

Senators 4, Flames 3 (Shootout, so really 3-3 but the Senators won and this is evidently how we have societally chosen to handle reporting scores from games that end in shootouts)

How It Happened:

The Sens had two two-goal leads. They gave the second one away, which isn’t great, and were we in the midst of a playoff run would probably be straight-up bad (gave the Flames a point since it went to OT), but they pulled it together and grabbed a road win in the shootout. Drake Batherson netted the clincher in the fourth round.

Any Fights?

Yeah, Austin Watson and Zac Rinaldo mixed it up. Rinaldo ended up going down first, but he landed some good ones on Watson with the left hand. Good effort. Really like the Flames’ colors, by the way. Don’t see that scheme enough in sports.

Standings:

Kept the Vancouver gap the same size, narrowed the one with Calgary—Flames also lost to Edmonton on Saturday.

Toronto: 38 points, 26 games played
Winnipeg: 31 points, 24 games played
Edmonton: 30 points, 26 games played
Montreal: 28 points, 23 games played
Calgary: 25 points, 26 games played
Vancouver: 24 points, 28 games played
YOUR BELOVED OTTAWA SENATORS: 19 points, 27 games played

Senators News:

Didn’t see much.

Senators Thoughts:

Feels like a good one to have won. Road game. Opener of a back-to-back. Preemptive losing streak stopper, right there.
