Remember That Guy? Sam Fuld Edition

Joe uncovered today that Sam Fuld is the Phillies’ general manager, and no, none of us knew that had happened, even if it’s vaguely familiar because we probably heard about it back in December. Anyway, this inevitably led to a visit to Sam Fuld’s Wikipedia page, which is quite a Wikipedia page. For example, you remember when Sam Fuld made that catch running into the wall at Wrigley Field? Well it turns out he doubled a guy off on that play. Really! Check it out:

Other things I either didn’t know or only vaguely remembered that I learned (or was reminded of) on Sam Fuld’s Wikipedia page:

  • Sam Fuld is diabetic.
  • Sam Fuld is from New Hampshire.
  • Sam Fuld played for Israel in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
  • There is or was a publication named the Jewish Sports Review that publishes (or at least published in 2002) a College Baseball All-American list, which in 2002 included Fuld, Craig Breslow, and Adam Greenberg on the first team.
  • Fuld was involved in the Matt Garza trade.
  • At one point, Sam Fuld, Manny Ramírez, and Johnny Damon were all on the roster of the Tampa Bay Rays at the same time.
