What’s at Stake:
This is Burnley’s easiest match of the year—a home game against the worst team in the league. With the Clarets second-to-last in the table, they need three points, and this is their best shot to get them.
The Odds:
The lads are -120 favorites, with Norwich at +325 and a draw at +250. That comes out to about a 52% chance of a win and a 26% chance of a tie.
Burnley Squad:
Maxwel Cornet sounds to be out. Jay Rodriguez might be back after missing the Leicester match with a hamstring injury. It sounds like Matěj Vydra should be available after missing Leicester with a back issue. Kevin Long is getting closer to a return. Connor Roberts is probably still out. Dale Stephens is still out.
The Opponent:
Norwich (the slide-in-the-church people) are pointless thus far, having scored just two goals in EPL play while conceding a league-high 16.
Other Burnley News:
I think it’s Sean Dyche’s 100th EPL match. Jay Rodriguez was the Carabao Cup Player of the Round.
Burnley FC Women:
The women’s team beat Hull City last weekend and now sit fifth or sixth in the table (points vs. points per match). They host 10th-of-13 Loughborough on Sunday.
Partner Clubs:
Cobh Ramblers (Ireland, second tier) lost today to Galway United, but they at least got a guy red carded. They’re actually getting a little close to last place, which seemed impossible earlier in the summer. Don’t believe there’s relegation, fortunately.
Ayr United (Scotland, second tier) visits Partick Thistle tomorrow, which sits just one point ahead of them in the thick of the Scottish Championship table.
Portadown (Northern Ireland, first tier) looks to climb out of last place tomorrow at Warrenpoint.
Llandudno (Wales, second tier) returns to action, visiting Colwyn Bay in an attempt to climb atop the Cymru North table.
Bertie News:
Nothing new from our friend the bee.
