Our Most-Clicked Pages and Posts from 2021

We were hoping to do a little year-in-review last week, as seems to be the norm among digital media conglomerates like ourselves, but…well, we’ve talked enough about all that.

Here are the posts and pages that got the most clicks in 2021:

1. NIT Bracketology
29% of all pageviews

The people want what they want, and as is always the case, our NIT Bracketology led the way. A note to the NIT fans in the chat: We’re tentatively looking at our first bracket of the year on Tuesday. Gird your loins. Or just don’t look at it at work.

2. Our Homepage
12% of all pageviews

This makes sense as well, as it’s the leading source of The Barking Crow news.

3. License Plate Power Rankings – 2019 Edition
8% of all pageviews

There’s this narrative going around that people don’t care about expertise anymore. They’ll listen to Joe Rogan rather than the medical community. They’ll listen to Donald McNeil Jr. rather than the medical community. They’ll listen to us talk about license plates. But really, aren’t we the license plate experts here? Who else has thought about this as rigorously as we have? Who else has completed two (2) license plate voting experiments out within the populace?

4. State Flag Rankings – 2020 Edition
3% of all pageviews

Again, I think we might qualify as experts on this. We’ve spent a lot of time looking at state flags.

5. The Year 3000: The Jonas Brothers Version vs. The Original
2% of all pageviews

People love Busted. Also, sorry the link in there to the Busted video is dead. I should probably try to update that.

6. NCA* *********t Seed List
2% of all pageviews

*sigh*

It’s bad, yes. It’s bad that people want to hear about that other tournament. But think of this like one of those counterterrorism efforts online where someone who Googles “How to join ISIS” ends up in touch with a diversion effort.

7. Pantsing vs. Depantsing: Which Is the Correct Verb?
2% of all pageviews

It’s an important question.

8. NCA* *********t Bracketology
2% of all pageviews

Ok now this is messed up.

9. Kennesaw State Has a Milk Chugging League
1% of all pageviews

Our only 2021 non-NIT post to make the list. It’s big news, and it continues to be big news. Go Owls. Keep innovating. Keep making milk edgy.

10. Unofficial: 2022 NIT Dates
1% of all pageviews

It all comes back to the NIT.

NIT fan. Joe Kelly expert. Milk drinker. Can be found on Twitter (@nit_stu) and Instagram (@nitstu32).

  1. I love that “How to join ISIS” will now be one of your biggest SEO drivers (because of the repetition of the phrase. Someone will google “How to join ISIS” and the algorithm will remember that your website mentions “How to join ISIS” and “expert” a bunch of times. Google will think that you’re an expert on how to join ISIS).

For real, “How to join ISIS” shows up 12 times on this page. Because up there, you typed “How to join ISIS” and then down here in the comments I typed “How to join ISIS” in response (with an extra 3 “How to join ISIS” in parentheticals) and then typed “How to join ISIS” 4 more times in the narrative explaining the number of times the phrase “How to join ISIS” is typed on this page.

To add to things, the CIA secret universal key logging has definitely flagged me by now and will also flag this site as “a site frequented by people interested in how to join ISIS.”

The question is: is this what you wanted?

    *mutters to self*
    1, 2, 3……..10…11……..HowtojoinISIS..12
    There.
