Ok, NASCAR. Let’s Talk About Demolition Derbies.

I’m just going to list out how NASCAR could do this, in increasing order of plausibility:

  • Every race weekend, invite local people to participate in a demolition derby.
  • Every race weekend, invite local people to participate in a televised demolition derby.
  • Make a small, national demolition derby tour, appearing at ten or so race weekends.
  • Make a small, national, televised demolition derby tour that is also an online-only reality show.
  • Make a full-on, national, televised demolition derby tour that is also an online-only reality show.
  • Make a full-on, national, televised demolition derby tour that is also an online-only reality show and allows one lucky fan every weekend to run around on top of the cars while they hit each other, trying not to fall between the cars and break his or her leg and possibly die.
  • Make a full-on, national, televised demolition derby tour that is also an online-only reality show and doesn’t have the fan on top of the cars, but does take place over the entirety of the speedway complex (at least for the championship).

Let the racecars do a demolition derby if a majority of the drivers vote to do so.
