Not All Dabo’s Takes Are Bad

Dabo Swinney said things yesterday, and I don’t know, I don’t think he said anything that dumb this time, but I assumed he’d said something dumb and I already had this title written when I factchecked myself and look, can we all agree that he’s said enough dumb things for us to let the title stand?

Anyway, the biggest headline came from his line that he was against College Football Playoff expansion, and, uh, duh. He should be against CFP expansion. He’s got a lot of power right now. His teams have no clear rivals in their conference, they’re a big enough mainstay that they can lose one game a year and be fine, and they’re now good enough to recruit on the level of the Ohio State/Alabama contingent instead of having to claw their way up there with *ALLEGEDLY* performance-enhancing substances. In the four-team setup, only one team a year gets to crash the party. In the twelve-team setup, nine get in there a year, with many holding the potential to make enough noise that the appearance does for them what ostarine *ALLEGEDLY* did for Clemson.

This is an unusual amount of sense for Dabo Swinney to make.
