I’ll own this one. North Dakota State lost. I’m kinda bummed.
I don’t love North Dakota State. I love Fargo, North Dakota State’s home. Related. But distinct. I do, however, have a Carson Wentz NDSU jersey, and I’ve been known to wear that from time-to-time, and Fargo (the dog, whom I also love, and who is coming home next weekend) might be an NDSU fan (I haven’t asked her yet), so there’s some NDSU in my life. They lost. It happened. The mighty has fallen.
It’s a weird season for NDSU, since Trey Lance isn’t playing (former Iowa Stater Zeb Noland is, though!) and it’s in the spring and I don’t know this but I’m guessing the Fargodome has a few attendance limits. So, there are excuses, but I don’t care enough to make them. The home win streak is over. NDSU has lost.
I do like Southern Illinois, I think. I like southern Illinois as a geographic region—doesn’t get enough love, and it’s fairly distinct from central and western Illinois, which are what passes for most of Downstate because that’s where the Downstate cities are. Never been to Carbondale, but like me a good drive up from Cairo through those hills down there. So, good for SIU.
