What a word.
Goes well with “bonked.” Goes well with “conked.” Goes well with a jolly, bouncing little tune.
Do I know where it comes from? No. I looked it up, and The Internet™ shared some rumors, but it wasn’t all that confident, so I’m not that confident, so I’m not going to share them here (ok the rumor is that some Germanic cultures made mugs called noggins that looked like caricatures of heads, so ‘noggin’ kind of means an ugly head, but again, that might be something someone just made up). I would never share a rumor here (don’t tell the non-parenthetical readers). I would never share something that even might be made up.
One thing of note: When I googled “noggin head” the People also ask section said people also ask what noggin means in Australia. The answer? Head. Still means head. Even if you’re in Australia.
