There is something I’m supposed to be doing right now.
I don’t remember what it is.
I bet I’ll remember before I go to bed, though.
Anyway, let’s talk NIT.
They call it Black Friday for a reason, folks, and Mississippi’s obliteration at the hands of Oklahoma State, while well-intentioned, may be a disaster for them come selection time. People may look the other way when you lose by 41 points. The ratings systems on those peoples’ team sheets often don’t. I’m not positive the NIT Selection Committee uses Team Sheets, but if they do, I bet those have ratings on them, and I bet those ratings give that result a raised eyebrow.
In other NIT news, Syracuse is charting the perfect course, and has even left themselves enough space that they can do whatever they want in these next three (Iowa, at Georgia Tech, at Georgetown) without it really jeopardizing their case in either direction. Unless they lose by 41. Or win by 41. Keep quiet out there, NIT hopefuls.
Texas, meanwhile, has bounced back well of late following their unfortunate victory at Purdue. They’ve played badly in two of their last three, most notably Saturday night’s two-point home victory over McNeese. A great reset of things.
That’s all I’ve got for now. The NIT soil is fertile, though. Much may grow while we sleep.
