Ok, we shared a few bracket details with our email list last NITe after the games ended, but here’s the situation:
- The link to the homepage, with the standings and everything else, is here.
- We got 819 brackets submitted after removing those which violated the rules (by submitting multiple brackets under one email – to remove these, we stuck with the most recent submission under each email). 819 NIT brackets is a lot of NIT brackets. We are excited, and we think you are excited, and we are excited that you are excited. Thank you for being excited.
- If you’ve emailed us a question, we’ll get back to you toNITe.
- If you think your bracket should be on the celebrity scoreboard, please let us know. We will begin the vetting from there.
Other details:
- 275 brackets no longer have a champion.
- 28 teams were picked to win the championship. The four that weren’t were Alcorn State, Eastern Washington, Hofstra, and Utah Valley. Eastern Washington and Hofstra each won last night. Utah Valley isn’t a giant underdog tonight.
- The most popular title pick was Rutgers, selected to win it all in 18% of brackets. They were followed by Vanderbilt (13%), Michigan (11%), Villanova (8%), Clemson (8%), Oklahoma (8%), Wisconsin (7%), and Oregon (5%). Of those eight teams, three have yet to play, but two of the other five have lost, including Rutgers in the very first game. The NIT is harsh and swift.
We’ll have more intel tomorrow, or after the games tonight. But hey, as long as you’re in the Eastern or Central Time Zone (and judging by those picks, most of you are), after the games will mean tomorrow anyway! What rushes, time zones and midnight.
Good luck!
If UCF can manage to get past Florida tonight, then they’re going to Vegas for the NIT F4.
