The revelation that Nick Saban likes to tell “Deez Nuts” jokes started in 2019. Josh Jacobs, Alabama-turned-Las Vegas Raiders running back, was on the Dan Patrick Show, and while explaining that Jon Gruden’s funnier than Saban, well…
Understandably, this created a stir. Nick Saban. A “Deez Nuts” man. It was a topic. Tua Tagovailoa was asked about it. I’m assuming others were as well.
So, of course, eleven months later, when Saban himself came on the Dan Patrick Show, Patrick had to ask him (the conversation starts at the 8:00 mark):
“Deez Nuts” jokes? To Coach Saban, that’s just “the teasing stuff.”
This week, though, it escalated. Because instead of it happening on the Dan Patrick Show, it happened in a press conference. Jordan Battle, friend of all:

He didn’t know Saban was listening!
It’s an incredible story, and I don’t know what it says about Saban, but it makes me curious. It makes me curious about what kind of guy Saban is. But that’s a matter for another time.
