The race has already begun (we’ll get back on track soon and stop being late with all these posts—wild 48 hours for us), but nothing too big has happened yet, so here’s what’s going on:
Where It Is
Las Vegas is, like Homestead-Miami, a 1.5-mile track. And like Homestead-Miami, it has some good restarts, but it isn’t as exciting as a Daytona or a Talladega, or probably the Daytona Road Course two races back.
When It Is
The green flag waved at 3:47 PM EST.
How to Watch

Who to Watch
Kevin Harvick started from the pole as a 9-to-2 favorite, but he’s dropping back. Still, keep an eye on him and the other usual suspects. Denny Hamlin can always be a factor. Ditto Joey Logano and Chase Elliott. And many others.
How NASCAR Should Script It
I’m not sure. So far we’ve had a non-playoff candidate and two playoff bubble drivers grab wins. It’s probably good to get some power up at the front, so a Hamlin/Harvick duel might be the move. But plenty of options.
Trucks, Xfinity
John Hunter Nemechek won the truck race, but Kyle Busch drew the headlines after appearing to intentionally spin out to get himself a caution flag in order to rejoin contention. The rule there, in practice, is evidently that if you don’t admit it was on purpose, you both get the caution and don’t get fined.
AJ Allmendinger won the Xfinity race. Doesn’t sound like there was anything new with the Gragson controversy.
