NASCAR vs. Nature

NASCAR tested rain tires this week for the NextGen car.

Unfortunately, we’re not using the NextGen car tonight.

Where It Is

Martinsville. The paperclip. Just over half a mile, with tight, tight turns, down near the Virginia/North Carolina border.

When It Is

Well, that’s the thing. The goal is to wave the green flag sometime around 8:00 PM EDT, but there’s rain in the forecast.

How to Watch

FS1

Who to Watch

It’s a fairly open race, judging by the odds, but the following six guys are available at better than 11-to-1 on Bovada:

Martin Truex Jr.: +500
Chase Elliott: +575
Brad Keselowski: +625
Ryan Blaney: +675
Denny Hamlin: +700
Joey Logano: +725

How NASCAR Should Script It

Feels like it’s gonna be a long night with the rain, so might be a good time for Keselowski to get a win. Shore up getting the regulars in the playoffs.

Trucks, Xfinity

Trucks are idle this week. Xfinity got through 91 of its 250 laps last night before rain made the rest impossible, and time constraints with today’s turnaround have the remainder scheduled for tomorrow, mid-day.
