NASCAR Takes Over a Man’s Glen

Who was Watkin?

Where It Is

Watkins Glen International. I’m assuming the international part is that they have a flight to Canada, and man, I’m just now picturing a plane trying to land on a road course and that sounds cool and also terrifying! Would probably be bad!

When It Is

Green flag right at 3:00 PM EDT, reportedly.

How to Watch

Who to Watch

Chase Elliott’s the road course king, but he’s far from favored over the field. For playoff drama, keep an eye on Tyler Reddick and Austin Dillon, who currently straddle the bubble. For championship implications, watch to see how fast Kyle Larson looks after a quiet end to the pre-Olympics stretch of season.

How NASCAR Should Script It

It’s time for Elliott to start racking up wins.

Trucks, Xfinity

Austin Hill won a rain-shortened regular season finale in the Truck race. Ty Gibbs won a thriller in the Xfinity Series, topping A.J. Allmendinger and Austin Cindric.

Silly Season

Ross Chastain is going to drive the Number 1 car next year for Trackhouse Racing as they take over Ganassi, joining Daniel Suárez on that team. This leaves Kurt Busch up in the air, with 23XI a possible destination as that team looks to expand to two cars (the elder Busch has been connected to 23XI in speculation for a while now—not really new, but the Chastain announcement does clear the waters that much more).
