They’re doing it again. The NASCAR. The drivers will not be attempting anything as mind-bending this time as when they drove 600 miles on Sunday (how wild was that?), but they’ll be trying to turn in a cool 500. Or a hot 500. Didn’t check the Charlotte weather. I’ve never checked the Charlotte weather.
Yes, they’re still at Charlotte. No, I don’t know how longer they’ll be there. Yes, that was a lie. I’m just not telling you.
Nothing else big to preview. Might be some rain, I guess.
Oh.
Also.
Chase Elliott got some #ThisLeague revenge on Kyle Busch last night. Remember a week or so ago, when Busch wrecked Elliott and Elliott gave him the bird? That was fun. Love the middle finger. Bring it back, folks—but not when you’re in the wrong like that one dude in the Land Rover who was wearing driving gloves on the Mopac frontage road where it hits Bee Cave this winter. That guy was an ass. Comical ass. Still an ass. But yeah, Elliott got wrecked by Busch at Darlington and gave him the bird for it, for a long time. Great video. The tension’s been simmering. Then, last night Elliott won the truck race at Charlotte (if NASCAR 06 by EA Sports taught me correctly, the trucks are basically NASCAR’s equivalent of Double-A, except the big guys drive too when they want). This wouldn’t be big news, except Kyle Busch dominates truck racing when he races, and Kevin Harvick had put a bounty out there for anyone who beat Kyle Busch in trucks. There were more details with the bounty, but I don’t know them, and they don’t change the story. Elliott, as you may have put together, won the bounty by beating Busch, but it got better. He celebrated by imitating some bow Busch evidently does when he wins races. I told you: This League, guys. Is this the kind of pettiness NASCAR needs? I don’t know. But it’s not the kind of Petty-ness NASCAR needs. We need a new Petty.
Bottom line: They’re racing again tonight. The best story arc would have Elliott win, so if he doesn’t, NASCAR definitely isn’t rigged. If he does win, jury’s still out.
UPDATE (Thursday Morning, 5/28): It got rained out last night. They’re gonna try again tonight.
