They don’t sing “Back Home Again in Indiana” before the NASCAR race at the Brickyard, right? They keep that for just the Indy 500? I have mixed feelings on the alternative.
Where It Is
Indy!!! The Brickyard!!!!! The road course!! (not sure how many exclamation points that last one deserves but here we are)
When It Is
Green flag at 1:13 PM EDT. Coming up!
How to Watch
NBC
Who to Watch
Kyle Larson was in tears last night in Iowa after winning the biggest race in sprint car racing, the Knoxville Nationals. Chase Elliott’s the road course man. Martin Truex Jr. is very good.
Keep an eye on the Tyler Reddick/Austin Dillon bubble battle. Teammates, too. Man. Fun stuff. Of course they could also get bumped by a wildcard winner, provided it’s a playoff-eligible one (not Austin Cindric, for example—we’ll get to him).
How NASCAR Should Script It
Have Truex come out of nowhere to blow up Elliott and pass Larson for the win. Give us some villainy.
Xfinity
Austin Cindric won the Xfinity race at the Brickyard yesterday, and while I don’t know much more than that, I don’t know what else I was going to say. Cindric won. The guy who’s going to be in the Cup Series next year and is doing some Cup races this year especially on road courses like today, for instance.
