Merry Christmas. Texas Is Back.

I know, I know. This might seem a strange time. But look at the facts:

  • As of yesterday, the Longhorns were the second-most likely team in the country to make the NIT. And without many teams playing yesterday, that must be at least close to true today.
  • As of yesterday, the Longhorns were projecting to be a four-seed in the NIT, right in the thick of the joy.
  • On Saturday, the Longhorns lost to Providence by 22, and while Providence is a decent team, and the game was in Rhode Island (and therefore Providence), that’s a great thing to do to bolster an NIT résumé.

Yes, the defending champions are back in the hunt for a repeat title. Other contenders be warned: These guys don’t go down easy.
