Jon Heyman: Blue Jays Waterboy?

There are three possible explanations for this Jon Heyman tweet:

The first is that Heyman, old man, has somehow gotten his brain warped into thinking Kevin Kiermaier should not have picked up the Blue Jays’ gameplan card Alejandro Kirk dropped in his lap.

The second is that Heyman, man whose market consists in no small part of old men, is trying to get love from those whose brains have gotten warped into thinking Kevin Kiermaier should not have picked up the Blue Jays’ gameplan card Alejandro Kirk dropped in his lap.

The third is that Heyman, noted “scoop” guy, is carrying water for the Blue Jays, whose reaction to this has been egregiously dumb, so they will give him scoops in the future.

The practice of carrying water so actual insiders will give you information, making you an “insider” yourself, is a long-standing tradition in sports media. It’s raged with the creation of Twitter, since the scoops game is now such a race. You get some wild takes out there that can, like this one, often best be explained as an attempt at scoop solicitation.

There is, to my knowledge, nowhere tracking this sort of thing on The Internet™. So, we’re going to try to start. If you see a take that is so stupid that the most plausible explanation is that the taker in question has unleashed it in an effort to give credibility to someone with access to information said taker/scooper will want down the line, please let us know. Let us know who’s carrying whose water. We need to keep an eye on these waterboys.
