Joe Kelly’s Walking Fewer Batters Than Ever

Yeah, not Joe Kelly’s best last night. Two walks, a hard-hit single, just the one strikeout. No runs scored, but he left with the bases loaded, and yeah, not something you want to do.

But even with the walks, our guy’s walk rate remains a career low, even lower than the 3.03 BB/9 he posted in his debut season of 2012. It’s at 2.95 right now. His career average is 3.67. His average since converting to a reliever was, before this year, 4.48. The man’s control has improved, and it’s likely his command has improved as well, so as we’ve said many a time now, we’re witnessing a career year from the guy.

Soak it in.

Savor it.

Savor the reign of Joe Kelly.
