It doesn’t sound like Joe Kelly’s going to return in the next three days, which means that as long as he returns by the 23rd, he’ll be returning in his home state of California. The Dodgers play three in Chicago these next three nights, then they’re in Anaheim over the weekend before a homestand against the Mariners, Marlins, and Diamondbacks, all of whom our hero would be more than happy to strike out (I’d assume). From there, it’s a weekend in San Francisco before the Dodgers next have to cross state lines.
Joe Kelly, of course, doesn’t need to pitch in his home state to have success. But his home state does benefit from his outings. According to one blogger’s estimate, the state’s GDP is five percent higher on days Joe Kelly pitches within its borders. Pretty cool stuff.
