Well this stinks.
I guess Joe Kelly isn’t on the All-Star Team.
Yesterday morning, when I saw an Instagram story of the right-hander at In-N-Out, I said, “Yes, this makes sense. Colorado has In-N-Out, I believe.” Turns out it wasn’t a Colorado In-N-Out. The guy’s in California.
I don’t know what kind of sick motive Major League Baseball has for holding the game back in this way, not letting its premier star play in its purported celebration of itself, but it’s a bad look for the sport. How else is there ever going to be a fight in the All-Star Game?
I’m surprised, as I am every time this happens, and I’m not the only one. José Altuve and Carlos Correa obviously weren’t expecting this when they opted out of the game. Why else would they have opted out?
If nothing else, when pulling something this dastardly the powers that be should have had the decency to announce Joe Kelly was not selected to the roster, rather than leaving us to find out ourselves after assuming the obvious would be done.
What a disappointment. Glad I’m not one of the people who flew to Denver only to learn this upon arrival. That costs money, MLB. You made people lose money.
