Man. What a way for it to end (I would have said that no matter how it ended).
Joe Kelly, for just the second time in the last four seasons, will not be a World Series champion this year. It’s frustrating, especially considering the likelihood he would have won it had his physical body held up, but it’s hard to ask something of the earth to hold something of the universe like that. It’s a tall task, and sometimes, the biceps get strained.
Anyway, Joe Kelly is still one of the only…is it two?…players in baseball to win two of the last four World Series. And considering Mookie Betts is the other, it’s pretty good company. The best baseball player in the world and Mookie Betts. What a pair.
The offseason lies ahead, uncertain and vast. But we, we the Joe Kelly faithful, enter it in a powerful position. After all, we’re on Joe Kelly’s side.
