The Dodgers pulled out a comeback win yesterday, and let’s skip the pleasantries:
Joe Kelly was the spark.
Trailing 6-5 in the 7th with Giants runners (not giant runners—important distinction, the runners were conventionally sized) on first and second, Dave Roberts turned to our guy, and our guy delivered. Popout. Groundout. Break so the Dodgers could bat. Strikeout. Groundout. Fielding error but not by Joe Kelly. Groundout.
Obviously, the tide was turned, and what happened the rest of the way was easy to foresee.
Never underestimate the importance of a middle reliever and/or setup guy.
