The game was on the line yesterday evening in Denver.
Entering the bottom of the ninth, the Dodgers led the Rockies by six runs, by no means an insurmountable margin at Coors Field, especially with Charlie Blackmon coming to the plate, three for four already on the day.
But the Dodgers were safe. You know why?
Because in their hour of need, Los Angeles turned to Joe Kelly. And true to form, Kelly delivered.
Four pitches later, Blackmon was in the dugout, and the Dodgers’ lead was safe.
Yes, Los Angeles went on to allow two more runs after Kelly left the game, but once that first out was achieved (Kelly made a nice defensive play on the comebacker, too), everything was fine.
Still ungrateful, Dodgers fans?
