This afternoon, for the first time in more than a month, there will be a Major League Baseball game with Joe Kelly on the active roster.
The suspension is over.
The shadow suspension (or injury) has ended.
It’s time for Joe Kelly baseball.
It’s a fitting time for Kelly to return—the Dodgers and Padres are on Fight Watch, because the Padres are good and the Dodgers are all, “Hey, we’re the good ones around here,” and also because Trent Grisham took Clayton Kershaw deep Monday night and Dave Roberts was displeased with San Diego’s reaction.
So, while I’m not saying Joe Kelly should go start another fight tonight, I am saying that would be hilarious, and as lovable as these Padres are, I will turn on them in a heartbeat if Joe Kelly asks me to—whether with his words or his pitches.
