It took Joe Kelly only ten pitches last night to set down the back of the Diamondbacks’ lineup in order in last night’s fourth inning.
In what was effectively a tune-up, Kelly worked painlessly through the inning, hitting 100 mph yet again with a fastball and drawing two routine groundouts before dropping a foul pop-up so he could end the frame with a strikeout.
With the Dodgers trailing 2-1 at the time, it was an important situation, and our hero’s dispatching of Arizona set his team up for a nice comeback victory.
His ERA? Down to 6.15. One scoreless inning away from dropping below 6.00.
The climb continues.
