Joe Kelly Is Innocent

The people are saying the 2018 Red Sox’ championship is now asterisked, and not only because one of their relief pitchers had a bazooka attached to his shoulder instead of a legal human arm.

No, evidently the Red Sox were stealing signs, and while we learned that a while ago, we learned today that the MLB is probably going to sentence Alex Cora to hard manual labor, making this all seem a lot more serious.

But let me be clear. That bazooka-armed pitcher, the one who single-handedly, with no help from sign-stealing, won the 2018 World Series, did nothing wrong. All he did was fire baseballs past the helpless 2018 Los Angeles Dodgers offense ad nauseum, making them (the baseballs dance), making them (the batters) sob, making them (the Joe Kelly fans filling the streets) celebrate boisterously.

So don’t rope him into this. Take away the Red Sox’ title in your mind (they’ve got enough). But don’t you dare asterisk Joe Kelly.
