Joe Kelly made his Dodgers debut last night, and while it was far from flawless, there is one data point regarding the outing that should put the National League on notice:
Joe Kelly’s ERA is already eight times better than it was at this point last year.
That’s right, everybody. Last year, over the course of the first two games, Joe Kelly pitched a third of an inning, allowing four earned runs. So far this season, he’s thrown one inning and a third, allowing only two earned runs.
Pretty impressive stuff, right?
To put this in perspective, if Joe Kelly follows his 2018 trend, he will accomplish the following:
- 0.55 ERA
- 4.8 WAR
- 8 World Series Titles
All of which would put him in the Cy Young discussion, not to mention the Hall of Fame.
So if any Dodgers fans are still concerned, settle down and enjoy the ride. You’re watching one of the greats.
