Joe Kelly has done the impossible.

I’m going to level with you all.

I have no idea how good Hunter Renfroe and Francisco Mejía are.

But Joe Kelly struck them both out last night.

I do know that Manny Machado is #verygood, and Joe Kelly got him to weakly ground out for the other out in the inning, so I know that was good, but in total, here’s what I know about what our hero did to the San Diego Padres last night:

He threw one (1) 100-mph fastball.
He got three outs on eight pitches.
He struck terror into their hearts lest he emerge from the bullpen again tomorrow to unleash his wrath upon them.

But something else happened between Thursday morning and this morning.

An official scoring was changed.

You remember that night when Joe Kelly said the official scorer at Coors Field might’ve been high when told he’d “allowed five hits” in that error-plagued inning? Just last weekend?

Something must have changed, because the “earned run” Kelly allowed that night is no longer showing as an earned run. Also, he now only allowed *four* hits that night.

Which means not only that Joe Kelly’s season-to-date ERA is, after last night, a scant 5.28, but that more notably, he’s done the impossible and lowered his post-Joe-Kelly-bobblehead-night ERA from something to nothing, as it’s now an even 0.00.

All hail Joe Kelly.
