Javy Báez’s High School Stats Are (probably not real and also) Amazing

Javy Báez might need some good vibes. Or he might not. It’s unclear. He’s striking out in almost half his plate appearances, but at the same time, he’s got four home runs already and his defense is great, as it so often is. There is no way to know if Javy Báez needs vibe help because 1) we don’t know if there is a bad vibe in there and 2) even the worst of vibes seems unlikely to break through the fortress of swagger that surrounds him.

But just in case, here are Báez’s stats from his senior year of high school in Jacksonville. They’re from MaxPreps, and I have absolutely no idea if they’re accurate or not. No idea whatsoever. But let’s pretend they are. These are from 2011:

Plate Appearances: 83
At Bats: 83
Hits: 64 (!!)
Batting Average: .771 (!!!)
On Base Percentage: Also .771 (lol)
Doubles: 20
Triples: 0 (yeah I think these stats are fake—everything else checks out except for this, unless outfielders were playing with their backs against the fence every game)
Home Runs: 22 (!!!!!!!)
Slugging Percentage: 1.807 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Again, really doubting these are accurate (because of the triples—again, everything else checks out). But for the vibes, we’ll let ‘em be. Conservative estimate, let’s say.
