It’s Chase Elliott’s Race to Lose

Back at Daytona. This time, on the road course.

Where It Is:

The Daytona Road Course is a 3.61-mile twist on the Speedway. It uses most of the track, but also winds through the infield a good amount. Not pretty like Watkins Glen or Sonoma, but still a road course, if you like road courses.

When It Is:

Green flag at 3:20 PM Eastern.

How to Watch:

FOX

Who to Watch:

Chase Elliott’s the favorite (+250), with Martin Truex Jr. (+600) next in line. They’ve combined to win all but one of the last nine Cup Series road course races, as you’ll hear often on the broadcast. Elliott’s been especially dominant lately and starts on the pole, so the potential’s there for a wire-to-wire day for the reigning champ.

How NASCAR Should Script It:

Let’s get some beef going. Have Truex wreck Elliott. Elliott needs a rival, and Truex is capable of playing the villain.

Trucks, Xfinity:

Ben Rhodes won the truck race Friday night that took forever to end (three overtime attempts before they could get a lap in without caution). Ty Gibbs won yesterday in his Xfinity Series debut. Gibbs is the grandson of Joe Gibbs, is eighteen years old, and is running a part-time schedule this year. Impressive outing.
