Is NASCAR Too Anti-Lugnut?

NASCAR’s got a new car.

No, not yet.

But soon.

2022.

Yeah, still a racecar. I don’t know what else you were expecting, but they’re gonna continue to use a racecar. I mean, yes, I would also assume this will make things more exciting, or is at least designed to do that, but maybe we’ve got a prankster in the engineer room.

Anyway. The point of this blog post. Look at this:

How dare they.

A pillar of the NASCAR experience has been seeing the dudes on the pit crew detach and retach *multiple* lugnuts on each wheel. They move so fast. The machines are so cool-sounding.Vrrt! Vrrt! Vrrt! Vrrt! Vrrt! Now they’re just making them do one? Unless they have to unscrew and screw it by hand, this is disappointing. The thing looks like a doorknob. And if I wanted to watch cars that look futuristic, I’d watch open wheel racing (not against it, just still trying to get the hang of keeping tabs on NASCAR itself).

Now, to forget about this entirely until 2022.
