Is Joe Kelly Going to Steal the Giants’ Christmas?

So, if you missed it yesterday, the race for the National League West Division title is evidently now…in costume?

This is like a parody of a musical where they’ve exhausted their actual fighting options and say, “Now, we must settle this with…*DRAMATIC INSTANTANEOUS COSTUME AND SET CHANGE*…dance!” and then everyone does jazz hands and starts going around the stage in perfect formation.

Man, I love baseball.

Anyway, Joe Kelly played his part, as one would expect:

The hands. He does the hands so well.

Of course, before everyone put their favorite outfit on, there were baseball games. In those, too, Joe Kelly didn’t disappoint.

In what ended up being a ten-inning Dodgers victory in Denver, the kind of game that where Los Angelenos teetered back and forth from “we’re going to win the division” to “ok what’s the plan for the Wild Card Game” half a dozen times, Joe Kelly pitched the sixth inning, when the Dodgers needed the deficit held at three.

Joe Kelly kept the deficit at three.

Three batters. Three outs. Two strikeouts. 98 miles per hour (consistently).

It was a vintage Joe Kelly outing, the kind that makes Los Angelenos know that their guy is ready for October.

But also, Christmas.

He’s going to steal it.

Watch out.
